What We Believe

THE WORD OF GOD

We believe that the Bible is God’s Word, written by men divinely inspired, without error in the original manuscripts, and has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

(2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:20-21)

TRINITY

We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons, that these are equal in every divine perfection, and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence and redemption.

(Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19, John 1:1-14, Genesis 1:26)

GOD THE FATHER

We believe in God the Father, perfect in holiness, infinite in Wisdom, measureless in power. We rejoice that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

(Revelation 1:4-6, Isaiah 40:28, Exodus 3:13-15)

GOD THE SON

We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit, miraculous in His virgin birth, sinless in His life, making atonement for the sins of the world by His death. We believe in His bodily resurrection, His ascension into heaven, His perpetual intercession for His people and His personal, visible return to the world according to His promise.

(Luke 1:35, Isaiah 7:14, 1 Peter 2:24, 1 Peter 1:3-5, Ephesians 1:7, Romans 8:34)

GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from God to convince the world of sin, of righteousness and of judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify and comfort those who believe in Jesus Christ.

(John 16:7-15, 2 Corinthians 3:6, Romans 8:9, John 14:26-27, John 15:26) MANKIND
We believe that all men were created in the image and likeness of God. (Genesis 1:26-27, John 6:40, Romans 5:12-19, Genesis 3:6-24)

 REGENERATION

We believe that all people are sinners by nature and by choice, and are therefore under condemnation. We believe that those who repent of their sins and trust Jesus Christ as Savior are regenerate.

(Genesis 2:17, 2 Corinthians 5:17, John 3:1-16, John 5:24, John 8:12, Romans 5:19, Romans 8:1, John 1:12, Ephesians 2:8-9)

THE CHURCH

We believe in the one true Church, universally existing and consisting of all those persons who are regenerated by the Holy Spirit through saving faith in Jesus Christ. We believe in the local church, consisting of a company of believers in Jesus Christ, baptized on a credible confession of faith and associated for worship, work and fellowship. We believe that God has laid upon the members of the local church the primary task of giving the gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world.

(Colossians 1:24-26, 1 Corinthians 12:12-31)

THE ORDINANCES

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the local church: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We believe that Christian Baptism is the immersion of a believer in water into the name of the triune God. We believe that the Lord’s Supper was instituted by Christ for commemoration of His death. We believe that these two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Baptism (Matthew 3:13-17, Matthew 28:19, Acts 2:38, Acts 8:36-38, Romans 6:4) Lord’s Supper (1 Corinthians 10:16-17, 1 Corinthians 11:17-32, Luke 22:14-23)

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

We believe that every Christian has a direct relationship with God, and is responsible to God alone in all matters of faith; that each church is to be free from unjust and unscriptural interference by any ecclesiastical or political authority; that therefore Church and State must be kept separate as having different functions, each fulfilling its duties free from the dictation of patronage of the other.

(1 John 1:3, 1 Timothy 2:5, Romans 14:7-12)

MARRIAGE

The Bible itself, as the inspired Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. Thus that the teaching of God in the Bible is clear, and that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: marriage is a covenant relationship between one man and one woman, for companionship, sexual unity, procreation and to display the love Christ has for His Church.

(Genesis 2:21-24, Genesis 1:27, Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13, Romans 1:24-26, Ephesians 5:22-33)

THE LAST THINGS

We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth, and the establishment of His kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, the everlasting joy of the saved, and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost.

(Matthew 16:27, John 14:3, Acts 1:11, Philippians 3:20, Revelation 20:12, Revelation 20:15, John 5:28-29, John 11:25-26, 1 Corinthians 15:42-53)
